Time to Breathe
Spring brings new life (and rain), but it a busy sometimes hectic time of year. Often it is hard to push away all of life's distractions and focus on the little things, such as how nice the air smells, or how beautiful the spring wildflowers are. But it is important to focus on yourself, and not let the stress and work overcome you. The year has only really just started, it is much too early to worry too much about life's stresses. Everyone needs some time to call their own and unwind, and focus on an activity that helps them destress. Whether it be knitting, sports, or simply relaxing with a good book, the importance of self-care cannot be overstated. For us, that activity is art. Art can be cathartic, and can help you relax and cool down after a stressful day. Everyone has different talent levels, and even if you aren’t especially talented, it still feels amazing to put the brush to canvas. Focus on what you are working on, no matter if it’s straight lines, a landscape, or simply swirls of color. This is why art therapy works. It allows people to communicate unconsciously, or think of something other than their problems. So this spring, when you’re feeling a bit stressed out and overworked, turn to art. Create something, focus on the moment. You will feel a lot better.
